Here is his HostGator shared hosting review:
Hey guys, first thank you for providing a feedback outlet for those of us who like to share experiences with others about their web hosting.
Today after I got done with a quick chat session with Jacob of HostGator's web chat session, I thought I not only needed to share my positive feedback with Jacob's excellent customer service but also publicly on this 'HostGator Hosting Reviews' website.
I've been with HostGator for five years now. I can't believe it has been that long already, but yes, five years! Amazing how time flies when your being hosted problem free.
HostGator has been able to reply to my support tickets within hours usually with an answer to any question I've had. Usually, my support requests are support related like updating my credit card information or switching billing plans when they release new packages.
Over the five years, I've witnessed about 3 outages that lasted longer than thirty minutes. Really not bad at all considering the outages were pre-planned and we all had notice beforehand by email and on their forum. I'm sure I've been offline more than that, but not that's I've personally witnessed.
I have had problems with some rogue customers ending up on the same shared server as me. This is to be expected when you utilize shared services. Every time I've seen some slowdowns or other issues, HostGator has been willing to either rectify the bad customer or move me to new, faster hardware.
I guess if I wasn't so cheap and actually upgraded to their newer VPS or dedicated services, I could eliminate this problem all-together. But honestly, I so rarely see problems, its just not worth the extra cost to me.
Overall, I give HostGator 4.8/5.0 for their shared web hosting packages. Fantastic service for an even more fantastic price. Go ahead and try their penny coupon deal on here, that's how I got started!
